How much do Advising Engineers cost?

In structurally complex works, or works that pose a high risk. Adjoining Owner’s Surveyor will request the input of an advising engineer. The Engineers role will be to review the works from the perspective of the adjoining owner’s property, mitigating the risk to it’s lowest form.

Advising Engineers, costs start at circa £500.

Security for Expenses is a sum of money held on account ensuring the Adjoining Owner’s property is protected against future damage and unfinished works. This is usually for structurally complex works posing a high risk. Upon completion of the works, the sum will be returned to the Building Owner.

Security for Expense costs begin at circa £2,000.

In the unlikely event of a dispute between the Building Owner’s and Adjoining Owner’s Surveyor. The Third Surveyor can be called upon to resolve the matter, enabling the process to move ahead smoothly without further delay.

Third Surveyor costs begin at circa £2,000.

Movement monitoring is for structurally complex works posing a high risk. The Adjoining Owner’s property will be monitored throughout the duration of the works ensuring movement is detected early, allowing it to be addressed before becoming a serious structural concern.

Movement Monitoring costs begin at circa £950.

If damage is caused as a result of the Party Wall works, the Building Owner will be liable for the repair and making good costs. The Adjoining Owner may request their own contractor repair the damage, at the cost of the Building, this is usually dealt with as a payment in lieu. Here at Icon Surveyors, we will endeavour to keep you in the loop throughout and ensure you will be made aware of any potential cost prior to them arising.

Rather than being a fixed cost, these tend to be based on the Party Wall Surveyor’s hourly rate being applied to the amount of reasonable time spent agreeing the Party Wall Award. These fees are in most cases the responsibility of the Building Owner.
